Hi all! I got a 3DS today as they are stupidly cheap in Tesco but I haven't had one for about 2 years. What games have I missed that are worth picking up? I'd played everything I was interested in up to 2013 so I have 2 years worth to catch up on...

Things I'm interested in:
Tomodachi Life
Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright
Anything strategy based, preferably like Advance Wars or Fire Emblem
Anything similar to Lost in Blue or Don't Starve - I like no instructions given survival games

Has anyone got any feedback on Tomodachi Life or any suggestions of games that fit my preferred genres? I'm about to spend around 40 hours on planes and in airports so I have lots of time to kill!

Story of Season (Which is the new name for the Harvest Moon games)
Fantasy Life

That's all I can come up with from the top of my head.

You can check out the reviews for those games on Nintendolife.

Don't forget! You can also play regular DS games.

@Tasuki: ooh good call - I love Harvest Moon and I didn't know they had changed the name. I'll definitely pick that up. Checking out Fantasy life on Nlife right now - thanks for the suggestions!

You're welcome. Yeah that name change confused alot of people. As far as Fantasy Life goes I put in about 200 hours in that game and I still play it on occasion.

Fire Emblem: Awakening for 3DS is awesome. Definitely worth a shout. Only reason I kept my 3DS as long as I did, frankly!

Anthrax hoax at my apartment left me outside so I played some Edge today. Quite the way to get reintroduced to one of my favorite puzzle games on the system.

I know this wasn't the original purpose of this thread, but is it okay if we use it as sort of a general discussion about 3DS games in general?

Anyhow, I bought Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS on Amazon, and I should get it in the next couple of days. It's the first retail 3DS title I've bought since Fire Emblem: Awakening, so it's been awhile, lol.

I'll probably be getting Fire Emblem: Fates (Birthright Edition) next month, as well.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Oh goodness, I almost forgot about that chaotic game. Smash Bros is a must-have.

@RR529:
Fire Emblem Fates looks really good. I haven't played any of the games in the series before, but I heard this one has a beginner mode so maybe it's the perfect one to jump in with? But what's the difference? I'm not planning on buying both games (I've never found a reason to own more than one Pokemon game either), but I can't decide which one to get...

p.s. I'm probably going to make my choice based on who I can decide to marry in the games. lol.

I've now had Smash for a little over a month, and it's been a good time. I'd say Little Mac is my favorite newcomer, though I also enjoy Greninja, Mega Man, Robin, and (interestingly enough) Pac-Man & Wii Fit Trainer (I should note that I haven't purchased any DLC at this time).

I did buy Fire Emblem: Fates (Birthright), and it should be getting here later this week, or early next week.

@Utena-mobile, while both Birthright & Conquest have the same difficulty settings (ranging from Normal to Lunatic), Birthright has only basic mission types (defeat all enemies, or take out the boss) & many chances to grind (much like Awakening, you can probably buy Reeking Boxes from shops, which cause monsters to appear on the map), while Conquest has more complex mission types (win in "X" amount of turns, fog of war which makes enemies undetectable until you're so close to them, etc.), and limited opportunities to grind.

Because of those differences, Conquest is generally recommended for vets only.

@RR529:
lol. I ended up buying Fire Emblem Birthright. it's kind of a mixed bag. I don't like the combat at all (too stressful for me, lol), but OMG! I love the story and the characters! And some of the characters are just too perfect as couples! I had no idea relationships were such a big part of the game and I love it! I'm already shipping some of them because they are so cute together. I could spend all day just playing matchmaker and seeing if so-and-so gets together with so-and-so. And if they get married? Gaaaaaack! *dies of cuteness overload.

I'm trying really hard not to mention any spoilers, but it's really hard. I'm glad I bought this game, and my tumblr is going to be nothing but Fire Emblem stuff for the next couple of months. You're going to like it. (^_^ )

I bought both Fire Emblem games, but they still haven't arrived yet since my cheap ass went with free shipping from Target

Oh, well. I got them on a buy 1 get 1 free deal, so I can't complain.
