Topic: Xbox Gold to Ultimate deal?

Hi all,

Last March I upgraded one year of xbox Gold to Ultimate. My membership expires in a few months, and I just wondered, is there a way to do the same deal again? Any advise would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Beagle

@Beagle I am sort of wondering the same thing. If you load up with Gold now while you are still subscribed then you don't get the 1:1 ratio.

I've heard but I am really not sure if it's true, that if you let your sub lapse completely and then buy the Gold and convert it to GPU (via the £1 deal or just buy buying a month), then you will get the 1:1 ratio again. Hopefully somebody who has done this before can confirm.

I was thinking of trying it when my sub lapses later this year anyway. Best case scenario, I get the 1:1 conversion. Worse case scenario I get the less favourable ratio but it's still roughly the same as paying full price for GPU.

You have to let it expire and then re-do it all over again. It's not much of a hassle, especially considering how much money you save.

@KilloWertz thank you, just to confirm, I can use the same xbox account for this and don’t need to create a new one?

@ralphdibny yeah same, would like to make the savings if I can!

@Beagle Correct, you can continue to use the same one. It doesn't make sense from a business perspective, but obviously Microsoft doesn't care how many times you do it.

@ralphdibny Correct. I think the last time I ended up having a little over a 2 and a half years somehow, tried to add 6 months and was met with a nope. Ended up getting myself setup for 3 years somehow at some point. Mine isn't up until March 1, 2024.

@ralphdibny It won't allow you to go over 3 years like you said, if say a 6 month code was added to a subscription that still had a little over 2 and a half years left to it. This was all before upgrading it to Game Pass Ultimate again since the last couple of times I've just bought codes from people off eBay since they were cheaper.

You can only have 3 years of any Xbox subscription redeemed but I didn't know that, after your Ultimate expires, you can buy Gold and convert it to Ultimate again for basically nothing. Is it still true?

@Banjo- Yes, you just let your subscription expire and then do it all over again.

My GPU expired last year. A a few months back I bought 12m gold. I now have enough MSP to get 3m GPU. Anyone know what will happen if I apply 3m GPU to my current sub (has about 8 months gold remaining)? TIA

I got my first 2 years with the one pound deal. Let it run out for a month , got another year of gold then got the 1 pound deal again. Did the same thing and let it run out for a month which was in march. I got another year of gold in April but this time it cost me the price of a months ultimate, £10.99 to convert from gold. I got all 4 years of gold from CDkeys for £36 a pop.
If that helps

@GarbonZoni same thing here, its still working thankfully only difference is you only get the £1 deal once, after that you need to buy your 1-3 years worth of Gold, and then buy one months of Gamepass ultimate to convert the rest into Gamepass too. Such a good deal!

@Captain_Chao5 I think it converts the Gold to GPU 1:1 and stacks the GPU on to it if your original GPU sub has lapsed.

So 8 months Gold will turn into 8 months GPU plus 3 months GPU for 11 months GPU total.

Don't quote me on that though. I've only done it without ever having subbed to GPU and that's how it worked for me.

People have said the 1:1 ratio can be achieved again as long as the GPU sub has lapsed but I haven't personally tried it.

If you add gold/game pass/game pass PC/EA Play to an active GPU membership then you get less favourable ratios.

@Beagle Was gonna get 3 years but i don't game as much these days, so stuck to 1. Even at £10.99 its an ace deal though. With reward points and these deals on the table like they are, it makes you wonder who's actually paying for the service lol

Long may it last

@ralphdibny Seriously - thanks! I had pre-ordered Sniper Elite 5 (£41), so I cancelled this and got myself another 12m gold (£36) then redeemed the 3m GPU deal. I now have GPU until Feb 2024! Happy days!
