Poll: What Are Your First Impressions Of Mixtape On Xbox Game Pass?

10/10 - loved it. I thought it was a total blast from start to finish, the best thing I’ve played so far this year.

I finished it on the day it came out. I've got 3 achievements left to unlock.

I loved it. It's basically a series of mini-games, but the characters, story, writing, presentation, and of course, the music, really make it special IMO.

I was surprised by the soundtrack, given that I was a teenager in the 80s and in my 20s in the 90s, so I expected to know all of the songs in the game, but nope; there were several that I'd never heard before.

It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I think a lot of people will really love it.

Enjoying it so far. Great game, will continue tonight.

Not my thing from what i saw of the game play but I did listen to the soundtrack on Spotify so there is that.

@SigmaTheDJ Yeah, I’m from the 80s-90s too and was worried that the soundtrack would be obvious grungy stuff, but it was a pleasant surprise, like you I hadn’t heard quite a few of them.

I'd like to hear from the voters who gave it low scores.
I get it's not everyone's thing, but it's made with such joy. It's hard to call it a 3/10... I bet those people haven't even played it

My favourite part so far is the black and white bit that tune what's happening in the scene when something like that happens to you as a teen it's soul crushing!

@Gunonaboat or they just didn't like it as it wasn't to their taste. Folks are allowed personal preferences and can score it based on that as they see fit.

Me I clicked "I haven't played it and probably won't" as I know this isn't for me based on what I saw of it prior to launch. It a very stylish & well presented game but if you don't vibe with it that doesn't really help.

@Gunonaboat It's an absolutely amazing game but it's one of those not everyone will be into.
If there's no proper gameplay they are out but I'd say mixtape will definitely be in the nice for game of the year I'm still on Cassandras part but I'm loving it taking it slow don't want it to end to be honest haha

Just finished it and it's 100% a 10/10! Great story, great soundtrack. Brilliant execution and just overall a brilliant game. It def will not be for everyone though. So can understand some not getting the high praise the game is getting. I can't want to see what they do next. But will be 1 day for sure. I've already bought Mixtape for the PlayStation and will get the plat for it. I played it on the Xbox blind and no looking at achievements or trophies. Just to experience it as a normal game and no pressure.

Just finished, WOW what a fantastic and special game! These developers are my new Don’t Nod.

I finished off the last few achievements. My sole gripe is with the "Front To Back" achievement, which has the following requirements: - "Find everything in the bedrooms and all unique conversations."

But to unlock it, you have to examine everything that's examinable, not just in the bedrooms, as well as going through all of the unique conversations. It's the only achievement that's a pain if you miss it first time, cos you can't just go back to a particular chapter as you don't know what you've missed.

It's a 9/10 for me. My favourite game released in 2026 so far.

But it can’t be 23% of people saying it’s a 10/10, I was told by the internet that it only got a 10 because it was woke!

I don't really play much new games these days which may seem jarring as a GPU subscriber.

I haven't played it yet, but it looks kinda fun... My only question is, do you really need to play this game, or could you get (much) the same experience from watching a long play on YouTube? 🤔

It really does look like it's an emotive experience, but I'm not sure whether the interactivity is particularly necessary as it feels like this could also be a pretty cool movie.

@Bob_Tempura it isn’t the sort of ‘interactivity’ you’d need to play, say, Hollow Knight, but there’s enough of it to be entertaining. I found the mini-games fun (apart from one which is designed to be revolting!) Even the point and click bits are entertaining because the dialogue and execution is so sharp.

Basically, if you’ve got game pass give it ten minutes. You’ll know by then if it’s for you. If not, you’ve lost nothing.

@Bob_Tempura treat it like a mildly interactive film and you'll enjoy it for what it is.
If you go in thinking it's a "game" then you'll be disappointed!

Also, to clarify - I played it. I loved it. Not a 10/10, but a solid 8 or 9

I planned to play it yesterday but got food poisoning instead... so didn't. Hopefully Mixtape is better.

I haven't seen anything about it being woke but I'm sure some idiots would call that woke because of that very stupid.
It's a fun nostalgia trip with a great story and characters I don't see why the woke word needs to come into it

@Gunonaboat I honestly have not seen any “support” of their claims that it’s woke outside of the main character being a woman. I don’t know that there’s any reason beyond that. IGN and many other outlets gave it a 10 and I’m seeing people say, “Of course they gave it a 10, it’s woke!”

My wife and I played for about an Hour. Very original. A nice Gamepass surprise.

Yo. So, like, I checked this game out and honestly, I was like, totally feeling it was just some pretentious tale of these rich kids from the burbs back in the day, you know? I mean, I get the vibes, tracks, and some of those mondo refs, but like, for real, it just thinks it's all that, so I was like, whatever, bounce. And to be, like, totally relevant, a CD held at least 650MB, duh.

$20, 12GB, 3 hours? I hadn’t looked into it before now but the trailer vibed and I like those numbers. Just bought.

Its great, but $30 seems 50% too high for a game which is shorter than some Francis Ford Coppola movies

Nearly finished the game now I'll be so sad when I'm done it will definitely stay long I'm my mind game of the year for me I love it!

Ok, so I just played through Mixtape in one sitting. I enjoyed it overall. I liked the characters, the writing and the way music was used.

But I dunno... It didn't resonate with me the way it seemed to with a lot of other people. Like I said, it's a good story with good writing, but maybe I just didn't personally relate to the characters' relationship with each other?

If I had to put a score on it, I'd say for me personally it's a 7.5; good but (for me) not the life-changing experience many have had.

That's kinda what I was expecting tbh, which isn't a bad thing. This definitely feels like a perfect game for Game Pass / PS Plus, an experience for people to enjoy (or not as it seems for some!) as a mostly one and done shot in an afternoon. I know that's how I'll be approaching it anyway.
