Suggestion:
well there are different red rings .all i know is that that 2 LEDs means overheated,3 LEDs is ****** up and can be fixed with some tricks or just goes away and 4 LEDs means that vga/scart cable is not in correctly. it could have been 3 LEDs that have gone away and if that's the case your xbox is functioning correcly but can break easier then one that hasn't had it
