How Much Space Should You Have Around an Xbox 360 Slim to Avoid the Red Ring of Death/rrod?

I am getting a Xbox 360 Slim this christmas, and i am terrified of the RRoD. I just recently found out what is was, and now i'm scared that it will get it since we only have a limited space where it can go. I should manage, but i need to know how much space should be around it.

Suggestion:

You can find alot of support on Xbox.com. I have gotten the RRoD maybe 3times? i think. But that was with the very first xbox. I'm pretty sure that new Slim (which i recently got for my birthday) will never get the RRoD, it is more advanced than the other xboxes.

But with any xbox you should be careful about the ventilation. Don't enclose it in between books in a book case, or shut it away in a tv cabinet where it can get all heated up. I leave mine out laying down on the carpet infront of my tv. Luckily the new Slim is created to where if it is layed down, no ventilation holes are blocked! The bottom of the Slim is a closed side.

Im sure you will probably have enough space to leave it out somewhere. It doesn't take up much space. But to answer your question more simply, my guess would be 3 or more inches all around.
