Suggestion:
Twice. The first time I had the protection plan so I just got a new one. The 2nd time around it was still under warranty so I just called mircosoft and they sent me a special box and a packing label to send it in and it came back fixed about a month later (but that was when everyone got the red ring at the same time so it would probably only take a week or so to fix now).
