Does Doing the Towel Trick on an Xbox 360 with the Red Ring of Death Void Your Warranty?

My 360 got the red ring of death and I would still like to play it for a while before the box comes. My console was still under the 3-year warranty, so I'm waiting for the box to ship it back to MS. Does doing the towel trick void your warranty? Any links about this info would be helpful.

Answer:

Do not under any circumstances use the towel trick, especially since you are under warranty. The towel trick is crude and can do serious damage to your system. The point of the towel trick is to cause your xbox to overheat so loose parts will solder themselves back in place. However, if you mess up, you can burn and char the inside of your xbox 360. If microsoft opens up your xbox later, and they can see physical damage, that will void your warranty. The towel trick could work, but its not worth the risk when you could get a new box with just a little patience.

It wont void your warranty as long as you don't take the xbox apart and i'm not talking about taking the faceplate off or anything but actually opening up to where you can see the disc drive and everything and the towel trick is only a temporary fix and it will more than likely do ore damage then fixing your problem
