Why is My Xbox 360 Freezing? Please Read!?

PLEASE READ…
Ok, here's the deal, I just bought a used Xbox 360 and a used game from eBay. So both just arrived today but when the game arrived I noticed some fairly small deep scratches on it but thought nothing of it. So i connected the xbox to the tv and tried it out, everything worked perfect including playing DVD's and setting up Xbox Live! So after trying everything out I decided to try the game. So I poped in the disc and as soon as it starts, about 1 min later it freezes the whole console.

Then I leave it on while it's frozen to make sure it doesn't get the "RROD" and it doesn't after about 5min. Is it the game?

Suggestion:

If you can turn the Xbox on without the game in the tray and navigate through your dashboard, then it is likely the game that is causing the problems. You're probably getting a read error on the disk because of the scratches.

There are places that you can take scratched disks to have them repaired, but it's impossible to fix a disk that has been scratched deeply enough to affect the data layer, rather than just the protective layer. (Scratches to the protective layer will bend the laser, causing a read error, and can usually be filled in or buffed out. There is no way to recover data lost from scratches deep enough to nick the data layer.)

Try to press the Xbox button on your controller to see if you get any options. If you do not get a popup after about 15-20 seconds, cut your losses and turn the console off. It should not damage the console.

Yes this happened to me before I was playing World at War and was scratched and kept on freezing at a specific spot on a level. And my xbox was BRAND NEW like 2 days old so dont trip get another game and if it keeps freezing on different games buy a new 360 because I dont like to buy used consoles
