Want to Connect My Xbox to Xbox Live ! but Stumped :/ Any Help ?

Ok now iv seen all these videos on how to set up xbox live through my wireless pc so iv tryed them, i had trouble at first tryin to share my network but it seemed like i had it in the end, i had that little hand under neath anyway.

So i got an ethernet cable pluged it into my computor and the xbox. tryed the test thing on the console and sed i wasn't connected i fiddled about with the setting and then it would say i was connected. i tred playin online but after a short period of time say 15 mins it would disconect its self.

i fiddled bout with the properties of the wireless conection nockin it of switchin the local area connection sharing on then off again to get the wireless connection to start sharing again. now the next day i tryd to connect to it and it says that im not conected to the network when i test the conection through the console ???

ALMOST COMPLEATLY STUMPED NOW CAN ANY BRIGHT SPARKS HELP ME ?????? PLEESE DESPERATE NOW :'(

PS. i have the gold member ship and it in to date its a 12 month thing i iv only just bought it

Well, the thing is, you did it wrong. Plain and simple lol. If you're going to use an ethernet cable, which gives you the best connection speed wise (depending on your network, of course) then you need to plug it into the router directly. However, if you do plug it into your computer/laptop, then check out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314066 It's for a Windows XP computer, but i'm sure you can adapt to it if you don't have XP.
