Suggestion:
Hey ill try to help you out as much as i possibly can.
I am only going to tell you how to do it through wired because I don't have a wireless router ( they're the biggest rip off any ways about $100 ).
STEP 1:
Get a Ethernet cable from your local electrical shop ( Game shops etc.) for about $30 and make sure you get one long enough to connect from your XBOX 360 to you Router.
STEP 2:
You're also going to need to buy either 3 months of LIVE Gold Subscription for I think around $40 OR 12 months of LIVE Gold Subscription for around $70. AND might I add you get 1 month free trial of Gold LIVE! and SILVER membership? PFFT! that's not what you want if your going to play Online multilayer and play with your friends
STEP 3:
Okay now you get your Ethernet cable which is usually Blue, Yellow or Grey and plug one end to your router ( just see which hole it fits in, sorry I cant tell you because you have different one then mine I'm assuming) and plug the other end on to your XBOX, you put it in the port just next under the USB port.
STEP 4:
Now turn on your XBOX and go to System settings > Network settings > Test Xbox live connection.
Then let it do its thing and Viola!
STEP 5:
Go back to the menu and sign up follow the prompts and just before you finish it will say "you are eligible for 1 month gold subscription" or something and say yes.
Sorry if I have missed out some stuff but I think i may have covered it all.
