How to Get the The Internet on a Xbox 360?

We recently bought an Xbox 360 and we are trying to set up the internet on it. We are trying to get XBox live. Can anyone help us set it up?

Yeah my dad works for XBox Live so he could send someone out to help you rig it up if you wanted?
