the question im asking is if i send my xbox to microsoft lets say for the red ring of death is it going to void my warranty?
if i need a code to give to microsoft i only have 10 digits i can see there
Suggestion:
Sorry but its not looking good with the sticker =
This is a little long BUT trust me. It will work magic!
So please read on, i had to type it all out and plan what to do, what i used to do.
Best bet would be to phone them and say:
You: Hello i want to send my console in for repair, i have noticed the DVD is having trouble.
Them: Is it still within warrenty? Can i have the Console serial number and Product ID on the back of the console.
You: I think so, *explains the numbers to the women/man*
Them: Ok thats great, we will arrange a courier to pick it up from you on *date*
You: Thats great, oh i do have a slight worry actually, I removed the faceplate to change it to a custom one i bought, and i noticed my warranty sticker is slightly torn, i might have accidently torn it in the past while changing the face plate, or something, but i have not been in the console or anything, so im a little worried that it might get refused for repair.
Them: Oh don't worry if you say you have not been in it then thats fine.
You: Ok thanks alot, So you are gonna put a note on the account explaining the issue i have with the sticker aswell?
Them: Of course sir, anything else?
You: No thank you, Bye.
That WILL MOST PROBABLY WORK!
Because i have done this sort of thing SO many damned times
You must just remember that only because its a person working for microsoft does NOT mean they are not human, They could be in the same situation as you someday.
Everyone needs a little help and kindness with support.
If they refuse because of a slight tear in the sticker, just remember customers are always right, if you say you did NOT open the xbox, then you didn't SIMPLE.
If they get angry with you for emphasizing how important it is they repair it for you, then say to the person on the phone, : 'Ok, can i please speak to your manager?'
They will most likely say he is not there, blah blah.
Accept the call back.
Then tell them: 'Usually i don't get a call back, so can you guarantee a call back?'
They will say whatever they say
You say ' Ok well, please can i take your name, so if i don't get a call back from the manager i can take this matter further into legal rights with the gaming ombudsmen, the women will ensure you get a call back.
If the manager don't help, make a sad story about how you was gonna give it your little brother for his birthday since your income is so low you can't afford a new one for him, and while you was changing your faceplate before you gave it your lil brother that you noticed an old scratch on the warranty sticker.
Emphasize that your lil brother is very excited since your mum told him you was gonna give him your xbox, despite it being a suprise.
If it all fails they are wankers!
And then warn the manager you will take legal rights and matter further with a gaming ombudsman and you will seek professional legal help from a solicitor.
They will most likely change there mind, and you might find the courier arriving alot sooner than usual!
Also i would ask for a replacement warranty sticker to be issued when you receive your xbox!
I hope this helps
Just try it, they can't do anything against you!
Good luck
