1. how do i know my modem can pick it up because my modem is black and has a wi fi connection and my ipod touch can hook to it without the cord so is it wireless if it can give my dads laptop and my ipod wifi?

Suggestion:
Yes you have wireless internet. The adapter will work just fine just go to your network settings and find it on the list and you're done (unless the network is password protected in which case you will have to input the password)

Yes, once plugged in you need to either scan or set your home settings once done test your connection than connect, than your set for some XBOX LIVE!
