Xbox 360 Slim Wifi Help/advice?

Hey, so i'm getting the new xbox 360 slim with built in wifi, but i don't have wifi at my house. Now, i can catch the wifi on my macbook pro laptop pretty well from the neighbors, but only in certain parts of my house. My mom's being a turd and won't get wifi, so don't just say "GET WIFI". We don't have internet, period. Back to the question, i was wondering if anyone knows how good the wifi reception is on the xbox compared to the macbook pro and whether i should just share the internet off mhy laptop to the xbox or connect directly with the xbox (if possible). I was also wondering if anyone has any advice or ideas on how to increase the wifi reception on both/either devices, like i saw this one where this dude made a mini satellite dish BUT i have a laptop and no usb wifi adaptor, so thats not possible. Any advice is appreciated.

it depends on how far is you neighbors house and where do you have your xbox if is far you are not going to get good connections
