My Xbox 360 Just Got the Ring of Death Help?!?
I think its called the red ring of death when the circles turn flashing red instead of green. I was happily playing modern warfare 2, killing time, when suddenly out of nowhere i hear lightning (its been lightly raining for the past hour) and my tv and 360 turn off, and on again. The tv is fine but the 360 is just showing three red flashing lights. I just disconnected everything and didn't panic. Is there anything that i can do to make it work or should i give microsoft a call?
Suggestion:
The same thing happened to me. When the power goes out and comes back very quickly, it will create a power surge that will trick your console into thinking there's a problem. Just turn it back on and it should be fine. If it persists, it might have fried something in the power processing part of the console and need repairs.

There are a lot of myths about how you can repair a "Red Ring of Death" by yourself, including overheating your system by wrapping it in towels so the hardware resets. While some methods may have been successful for others, they're not necessarily 100% effective in every case.
Microsoft will repair any and all Xbox 360 consoles that Red Ring as long as you do not try to fix it yourself. Tampering with a faulty console voids the warranty. Your best bet is to contact Microsoft and have them send you a box and stamp, so you can send them your console and have it repaired free-of-charge. They'll also send you a one-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold membership. The process can take from 2 – 4 weeks.
