jaxim commented on Review: Kinect Party (Xbox Live Arcade):
My 4 year daughter old loves this game, and I think it was made specifically for her age group. (Even my 1 year old son is starting to like it.) I have found that many kinect games are too difficult for the young ones. Even Kinectimals was too difficult and my daughter soon got bored. She didn't want to learn the actions/gestures/voice commands in order to play the game. She just wanted to play a game she didn't have to think about. And that is what Kinect Party does. If you're a parent of very little children then I think you should get this game.
p.s. she also loves playing this game with her friends.

@dirtyvu Agreed. I had wanted to check out the Incredibles game move since I loved that movie. The demo should have provided more of a taste of the game.

@Tasuki And probably tax/legal reasons too. Totally understandable.

Can you please expand it to non-UK residents? I've been coming to this site since Kinect launched. Plus my daughter would love this game. If not, then I totally understand.

I would it if the site expanded and covered the PC version too. At the very least, I would like to see reviews of the PC games because I imagine there will be PC games.

I got this game and only explored some of it, but I was surprised that it didn't have a workout calendar like many of the other titles. I've set the game on a program to play 30 mins for 3 days a week, but the game doesn't tell me which days I should work out. It also doesn't tell me which activities to do for those 30 minutes.
I would have preferred if the title is a bit more naggy and told me extactly what I needed to do.

jaxim commented on Rumour: Next Xbox Split in Two Models for Kine...:
@dirtyvu if you use a network TV tuner, (i.e. HDHomerun), then the XBOX (if it had DVR capabilities) wouldn't need to have a built in TV tuner. As for the trend of moving towards the cloud, I am afraid you are right. I think the cloud is a more expensive option instead of getting content Over the Air.

I really long for the day that the XBOX can be used as a Media Center as opposed to a Media Center Extender. I would love to record TV shows directly onto the XBOX harddrive. Though if the rumors about a harddrive-less model are correct, then my wish will probably not come true.

Is it just me or is the only way to start playing these Kinect DLC games is to use a game controller to select the Kinect game under your available games. Why can't I select these kinds of games under the Kinect Hub?

I bought the Kinect Sparkler and ijt wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be more akin to seeing yourself in live time and being able to create sparkles shoot from your hand. Instead you take a picture of yourself and then draw sparkles on the snapshot of yourself. Pretty lame.

jaxim commented on Forza 4 Developer: "We're Years Away from New ...:
I think in a few years it will be common place to see more games/apps from independent developers. Just as it is common place to see thousands of apps for a mobile OS, it will be true for the XBOX and the Kinect.
So if big developer houses want to stay relevant, they will be forced to develop faster than years.

jaxim commented on Talking Point: What Would You Want in Kinect S...:
I liked to see them improve some of the existing sports. Boxing is really terrible compared to some of the other sports.
I'd also like to see a longer race than just the 50m dash. How about 100/200m? And I agree with some of the other people that tennis should also be included.

Ever since Johnny Chung Lee showed his Wii hack that allowed this kind of 3D effect (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw), I've been waiting for game developers to make some cool games using this effect.
Johnny later joined the Kinect team (though he recently departed Microsoft), so hopefully we'll still see Kinect games that have this 3D effect. This effect will probably only be good for 1 player games, but most of the time gamers play 1 person per XBOX against others online.

It would be cool if the game had popular choreographed songs where the game's dance moves matched the famous choreography: i.e. Beyonce's "Single Ladies", Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
Here's a list of more songs:

jaxim commented on EA Ran Out of Time to Bring Tiger Woods to Kinect:
@soaduk yes, you get a good workout from EASA2, but for the amount that this game costs, I expected the game to be ore polished. The game seems to be still in beta.
For example, the game navigation is nearly impossible if you try using the kinect camera. You're forced to use the game controller to navigate the game. This is because the game was not designed for the kinect. It was designed for the Wii and then ported over to the Kinect after the fact.
Other things include the game having problems recognizing some movements: i.e. side lunges. My avatar very frequently floats in the air for some reason.
But overall, I expect a Kinect game to take full advantage of the kinect - especially for the price of this game. For example, it would have been nice of the game corrected your form, or if the game's trainer pushed you ,ore effectively. Instead the game's trainer provides canned responses as if the game can't see what you are doing.
Yes, the game is good and gives you a good workout. But I expected more. If the game comes down to $30US then this game is fine for not being Kinect-specific. Of course this is just my opinion, but it seems like many people feel the same in their reviews. For example, the game only gets 3/5 stars on Amazon.com

jaxim commented on EA Ran Out of Time to Bring Tiger Woods to Kinect:
Judging from one of their other mult-platform titles (EA Sports Active 2) that seems to have been rushed to make it Kinect-capable, it's probably a good thing that they didn't release a Kinect version of the Tiger Woods game.
My bad experience with EA Sports Active 2 has sworn me off any games that are NOT made specifically for the Kinect. If the other gaming platforms (Wii, PS3) have the game, then I'm not even going to touch the Kinect version of the game.
If you're going to create a Kinect game, then you have to really commit to the technology completely and not go half-way in order to sell more games on other platforms.

jaxim commented on Review: EA Sports Active 2 (Xbox 360):
I wrote an extensive review of the Kinect version on Amazon. where I agreed with much what this review states.
Overall I think the game needs more polish and may have been rushed to market. It may not be worth $99 in its current unpolished form; however, it gives you a good workout and may be the best workout game currently on the market for the Kinect. But as one other commenter here mentioned, hopefully the workout games for Kinect that are released in the future will get better. That's not to say that a patch cannot be issued for this game and fix many of the bugs currently in this game.
If you desperately want a workout game, then this is a fine title to get. (Especially if the price comes WAY down.) But if you can wait for whatever comes out next year (i.e. perhaps UFC Trainer), then I would wait.
