Fiber Optic Communication

Compared to many other ways of communication used today, fiber optic communication is somewhat new. This particular mode of communication is highly sophisticated and involves the use of advanced technology. The basic concept behind fiber optic communication is transmitting a pulse of light from the transmitter to the receiver at the other end.

In the improvement of the use of fiber optic communication people like Harold Hopkins, Van Heel and John McChensy have contributed immensely . Even though with many advantages of using fiber optics over conventional copper wires, the high installation costs keeps it at the bay from mass usage.

Fiber optic communications are used in a variety of instances. Networking, communication related to the medical sector, telecommunication and even data communication are few such cases. Mainly used in data transmission in longer distances in the same country, this refreshing new technology hasn’t yet taken its expected phase in growth.

The all important ‘information age’ has been appeared with the invention of fiber optic communication .Though this might be a disputable fact, this clearly shows the importance and the tremendous value placed on this concept.

In the process of fiber optic communication system these fiber optic cables play a huge role. The tasks that these filmsy transparent cables are capable of are sometimes hard to believe. These cables are used in various applications from home based to office based, and sometimes in high technological applications used by governments and defence sectors. In this modern hi-tech world the uses and the demand for the fiber optic communication is comparatively high.

To reach the developing world and some of the information technology wise un developed countries this technology of optic fibers has yet to take off. With the correct marketing abilities this highly reliable method of data transmission has a very bright future ahead. With ups and downs the story of this engineering marvel has not yet finished. However considering how things have gone so far, it would not be a bad guess to suspect that networking in future will merely be done by fiber optics only.
