Soul Shards are required in later levels, especially casting more powerful spells. Each time an enemy dies, you receive a Soul Shard when used in conjunction with Drain Soul. Each time you acquire a Soul Shard, you will use up one inventory slot which does not stack. Your summon spells, stone spells, Enslave Demon, Soul Fire and Shadowburn all require Soul Shard. It is quite a headache to deal with Soul Shards, as it doesn’t necessary add more firepower to the Warlock.
