So Fine: Crazy comedy in reference to professor-child of a N.Y.C. clothes producer who is dragged into the business and accidentally finds success with a crazy idea for see-through slacks. Film goes off in spontaneous directions some of them surprisingly stupid-however continues to be funny most of the time. Trade: A thirteen-year-old gal is kidnapped by members of a sex-trafficking ring. As her older sibling follows her track, he hooks up with a Texas cop (Kline) who has his own rationales for chasing this outfit of bad guys. Downbeat drama reveals a stunning, debasing circumstance, although it’s maddeningly choppy, one second daring and commanding (particularly with Finnish actress Bachleda) and the next remarkably corny. Cast includes Kevin Kline, Alicia Bachleda, Paulina Gaitan, Kathleen Gati, Pasha D. Lychnikoff, Anthony Crivello, Linda Emond, Zack Ward, Cesar Ramos, Marco Perez, and Tim Reid. (120 minutes, 2007)
The Red Violin: Multi-episode film follows the destiny of a hexed violin from 17th-century Italy to 18th century Vienna, 19th century England, 20th-century China and present day Montreal. The tales are mainly downbeat and or aggravating, and the finish up part with appraiser Jackson is difficult to swallow. Colorful locales and enthralling premises sustain limited interest all the way through. Cast includes Carlo Cecchi, Irene Grazioli, Jean-Luc Bideau, Jason Flemyng, Greta Scacchi, Sylvia Chang, Samuel L. Jackson, Colm Feore, Monique Mercure, Don McKellar, and Sandra Oh. Bulletproof Heart: Fortunate hit guy LaPaglia gets a job he’s not really cut out for. He he hired to take out an attractive woman who is in dept with the mob. 4 well-conditioned, well-played characters containing Boyle’s gloomy mobster and Craven’s dimwit companion-don’t count quite make this a hit. Cast includes Anthony LaPaglia, Mimi Rogers, Peter Boyle, Matt Craven, and Joseph Maher. (100 minutes, 1994)
Just Ask for Diamond: Witty, if infrequently cartoonish, investigator film burlesque, in reference to the baby sibling of a dumbbell detective and the puzzle enclosing a box of candy. Cast includes Susannah York, Patricia Hodge, Roy Kinnear, Michael Medwin, Peter Eyre, Nickolas Grace, Dursley McLinden, Colin Dale, Bill Paterson, Jinuny Nail, and Saeed Jaffrey. (94 minutes, 1984)
Choices: Fractionally deaf adolescent Carafotes becomes disillusioned while stopped from playing football due to his hearing problems. Well intentioned although evident drama is helped by a fine set of acting jobs. Cast includes Paul Carafotes, Victor French, Lelia Goldoni, Dennis Patrick, Demi Moore, Billy Moses, and Pat Buttram. Signpost to Murder: Fugitive from an insane asylum finds refuge in home of a female whose spouse is away. Cast includes Stuart Whitman, Joanne Woodward, Edward Mulhare, Alan Napier, Joyce Worsley, and Murray Matheson. (74 minutes, 1965)
Airmail: Daring tale of pioneer airmail guides supercharged by fine aerial scenes and excellent cast. A first rate film. Cast includes Pat O’Brien, Ralph Bellamy, Russell Hopton, Thin Summerville, Frank Albertson, and Gloria Stuart. (83 minutes, 1932)
Club Extinction: A wave of suicides stuns future Berlin. Patrol investigator Niklas starts to suspect engagement of Beals, spokesperson for an Eden like resort, who’s connected to media tycoon Dr. Marsfeldt (Bates). Cast includes Alan Bates, Jennifer Beals, Jan Niklas, Hans ZiscWer, Benoit Regent, Peter Fitz, Andrew McCarthy, Wolfgang Preiss, and Isolde Barth. (112 minutes, 1990)
