E3 2016: Rare Beauty Sea of Thieves to be Play Anywhere, New Gameplay Demo Unveiled

Be still me'hearties!

During the Microsoft E3 press conference, a new demo of highly anticipated Rare oceanic adventure Sea of Thieves was unveiled and it was revealed that the game will be available to play across both Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms utilising Xbox's new Play Anywhere initiative.

Described as Rare's most ambitious and robust game to date, Sea of Thieves is a pirate-themed MMO where players band together to sail the seas, battle other crews, and hunt for treasure. The E3 demo, which you can watch in the video below, showed off some rather jovial co-operative gameplay, with a band of players drinking, setting sail and exploring a seemingly deserted island before getting into some, rather dramatic naval fisticuffs with another ship.

Sea of Thieves is expected to launch with Xbox Play Anywhere for Xbox One and Windows 10 some time in 2017.

We will be sure to let you know when we have an official release date.

It really looks good. I'm not much into MMO games as they could consume my whole time, but this game is looking awesome and, since I was a kid, I've always liked the pirate themes, probably because of Donkey Kong Country 2.

While the game looked pretty cool, the demo had a bunch of annoying commentators being filmed & streamed in......OMG, it was %(!?#@ annoying. Why they would do this......just ugh.

I was trying to enjoy the game & all I could hear were 5-6 idiots screaming at each other. I will judge the game itself, seperately of couse. But that presentation was horrendous in my opinion.

@KelticDevil "I was trying to enjoy the game & all I could hear were 5-6 idiots screaming at each other." That is the exact reason why people don't always enjoy online gaming.
