Lots of retro inspired games this week

Out This Week is pretty self explanatory; it's our weekly look back at all of the new games that were released on Xbox One and Xbox 360. We've tinkered with the format a bit and streamlined it so it's easy to be informed of all the latest games. You'll find information on the pricing for different regions, the publisher/developer's description of the game, and a conveniently placed trailer for your viewing pleasure.

This edition covers all games released on Xbox platforms between April 23rd and April 29th. You're most certainly welcome!

JumpJet Rex

JumpJet Rex features beautiful hand-drawn 16-bit graphics and awesome chiptune music that transfers players back to the 2-D platforming glory days. Battle your friends for Dino supremacy in Party Game modes, such as Deathmatch, Capture the Cookie, and Race Mode!"

Paranautical Activity

  • Publisher/Developer: Digerati/Code Avarice
  • Price: £7.99/$9.99/€9,99

"Paranautical Activity combines the classic FPS action of games like Doom and Quake, with the randomness and difficulty of modern roguelikes like Binding of Isaac and Spelunky.

Features procedurally generated levels, impossibly fast gameplay, hidden levels, over 100 items, ridiculous bosses, and a kick ass Dubstep soundtrack"

Party Hard

  • Publisher/Developer: tinyBuild GAMES/Pinokl Games
  • Price: £10.39/$12.99/€12,99

"In Party Hard, you play as someone who is really tired of the neighbors having loud parties. Instead of calling the police, you decide it's a better idea to kill everyone – using your faithful knife and the environment. The tactical strategy follows a series of killings at parties through-ought the USA.

Party Hard has semi-procedural environments and focus on unique ways of killing people. In the greatest traditions of sneaking games, your main goal is not to get caught, while silently picking off unsuspecting victims one by one. Dancing and blending in during a suspicious situation is key."

I went with Battle Worlds. Sounds like a cool game.

Not interested in some leftover Sony/DC comics MMO.

I don't have the time to invest in something like DC Online, presumably it will require much grinding with it being F2P anyway... would rather go back and complete Arkham Knight than waste time with this.

I love the look of Jumjet Rex though and I adore chip music (grew up in the 70's/80's) so that one is a no brainer... Brick Breaker looks like a cool re-imaging of Arkanoid so will probably get that too.

Party Hard is quite a disturbing idea for a game don't you think?
