Resident Evil Revelations 2

Contrary to the original announcement, Claire Redfield will return as one of the main characters in
Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

Claire's return to the franchise along with a plenty more details were revealed, when Gamesmaster sat down with the games producer, Michiteru Okabe.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will take place between Resident Evil 5 and 6, when Claire and Moira Burton, daughter of Barry Burton, are abducted and wake up in a detention facility on an abandoned island.

Most interestingly, the game can be played in both single player or co-op, but will only enter a game over state if Claire dies. Claire and Moria each have their own unique play styles. Claire will focus on combat, while Moira provides support with the flashlight, healing herbs and the goal of basically keeping Claire alive.

The new enemy monsters in Resident Evil: Revelations 2 are called the “Afflicted”, who “may look like zombies, but are in fact something quite different.” According to Okabe, the Afflicted are fast and deal plenty of damage, so its up to the player if they want to attack Afflicted head on, try a stealthy take-down approach, or run as fast as they can to get away.

Okabe also went on to explain that they have listen to fan feedback and are working hard to keep a balance between classic Evil, and the more action-oriented recent titles:

“I want this to be both a game that doesn’t lose what made its predecessor great, while also bringing something new and exciting to the Resident Evil series.” said Okabe “Achieving that lofty goal by bringing together past and future will make this an itchy-tasty prospect indeed.”

A solid release date has been announced, but Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is set to launch in early 2015 for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC
