What's Out This Week: August 5th (North America)

Slim pickings

So you're browsing your local retailer's Xbox One and Xbox 360 section and have no idea what new games were released this week. No one seems willing to help and you feel alone and scared. Surely, there must be a way — an easy way — to get the info on the latest releases. Rest your worried head young Spartan, because at pX we got you covered on what's hitting retail stores and the Games Store.

Sacred 3 (Xbox 360)

The Sacred franchise is in the hands of a new developer and publisher this time around with it's third entry in this fantasy role-playing series. Developer Keen Games is taking the series in a new direction with a more hack-and-slash approach and (gasp!) the removal of loot. If this sounds like a massive deviation from the surprisingly adequate Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, then you're absolutely correct. It's difficult to measure just how much of an impact these changes will have to the series moving forward, but for now we'd advise treading carefully with this one. Expect our review for Sacred 3 very soon.

Other Releases

Ultra Street Fighter IV (Xbox 360)

The most definitive and complete version of Street Fighter IV finally releases in retail form — and it's a doozy of an upgrade that even the mighty hand of E. Honda wouldn't want to slap away. In addition to all the extras from Super Street Fighter IV, fans are treated to six added stages, five brand new characters, new modes and features, and a plethora of balancing tweaks.

Slim pickings this week once again, and we suspect it's going to remain like this for a while longer — until the fall at least. Sacred 3 seems like it could be worth a spin, and we'd be excited for more SF4 if we hadn't already played Ultra in June. As usual, let us know if you're intending to indulge with either of this weeks' new releases.
