The August Xbox One Update is Finally Rolling Out

Posted by Anthony Bacchus

Improved activity feed, 3D Blu-ray support, and loads more

It's taken a bit longer than expected, but the latest monthly system update for Xbox One has begun rolling out to users today. We already gave you a rundown on what's new, but because we know clicking on links is hard work, we're going to provide all the details for you here — again.

The most noticeable update is the new Activity feed in the Friends app. You can now post your own messages in your feed, "like" and comment on your friends' posts, share your game clips publicly or privately, and more. You'll also be notified when someone comments or "likes" something on your feed.

Users can now initiate downloads away from home by using or by using the SmartGlass app on their phone or tablet. This is great news for those who want their console to download/install a game remotely so that it's ready to be played when they get home. We know for a fact this feature will be used heavily here at Pure Xbox.

That built-in Blu-ray player has been improved to play all of your 3D Blu-rays. In addition to that, you can choose to remove notifications from popping up when playing your favourite movie.

And finally, a new notification will show up when your controllers' batteries are low. There's nothing more annoying than having your controller shut off during an intense showdown in Titanfall. Thanks for this, Xbox team!

Microsoft have confirmed the September update will bring an updated media player, DLNA support, and an improved messaging app.

Let us know what you think about these new additions to your Xbox One. What features would you like to see in future system updates?

They mustve done some improvements to the kinect as well because I can actually control my receiver again.
