Ubisoft sees huge sales figures

Ubisoft has revealed in their latest financial report that Watch Dogs has shipped over 8 million units since it launched late May.

Sales for the company's Q1 2014-2015 was up a staggering 374% when compared to last year's results, going from €76 million to €360 million. Ubisoft attributes their quarterly success mostly to Watch Dogs, which sold over 4 million in it's first week at retail and broke the day-one sales record for the company.

"The success of Watch Dogs and the quality of our games portfolio presented at this year's E3 highlight our strategic positioning as well as our continuous drive for innovation, and affirm our long-term approach," said Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot in the report. "Watch Dogs is now well-positioned as a major franchise and we will be able to replicate and build on its success in the coming years. Its sales performance testifies to Ubisoft's expertise as a creator of blockbuster brands."

Ubisoft also received a 149% growth in digital sales, once again elevated by the success of Watch Dogs. It's important to note that 8 million shipped does not necessarily mean 8 million sold. Shipped means the number of copies that have sent been sent to retailers across the world.

Ubisoft will be releasing more blockbuster hits like Assassin's Creed: Unity, The Crew, and Far Cry 4 later this year.
