Ubisoft has employed professional free runner Michael Zernow as the new "Chief Parkour Officer" for the Assassin's Creed franchise

Michael "Frosti" Zernow, who survived 27 days on reality television series Survivor: China and who is a member of veteran free running team Tempest, will serve the company in a "strategic advisory role", with his work starting on this year's Assassin's Creed Unity.

Zernow said:

"I've been a long-time fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise. It's one of the few highly visible examples of parkour that attracts younger athletes to the sport every year."

If that wasn't enough, to kick off his free role, Zernow and Tempest Freerunning have designing a special parkour obstacle course called "The Assassin's Creed Experience", that will appear at this years San Diego’s Comic-Con. Inspired by the French Revolution setting in Assassin’s Creed Unity, the course will be open for event attendees to try from Thursday, July 24 through to Sunday, July 27.

Ubisoft described The Assassin's Creed Experience via their official blog:

"Hone your skills and learn the tricks of the Assassins. Roll, vault and race your way across the course, and finish with a 25-foot Leap of Faith. You don’t even need a Comic Con badge to participate. Those who complete the course will earn themselves a free limited-edition Assassin’s Creed Experience t-shirt."

If that sounds too scary, don't worry, Zernow and Tempest will be on-site to help visitors on the course, providing tips on how to make it through to the end. Check out the video for a guided tour of the course.

So...Assassin's Creed went from being an ideological inspiration to a parkour showcase. Can't say I'm surprised. Ever since ACII the franchise had been flooded and perverted by a bunch of hipsters who bask in flashy, gimmicky shows of bloodlust. I'm just hoping the next iPhone will draw them away from it, hopefully bring the series back to its roots.
