Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Release Date Moves One Week Closer

Posted by Anthony Bacchus

October loses another

October is slowly becoming less crowded with AAA blockbuster games. BioWare made the wise decision to delay Dragon Age: Inquisition a few weeks to November and EA pushed Battlefield into 2015.

But not every game is moving further away down the release pipeline. Today, Warner Bros. announced that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will now hit retail on September 30th in North America and October 3rd in the UK, one week earlier than its intended October 7th release date.

The decision to move the game up earlier was apparently "based on hearing fans' excitement over the latest chronicle in Middle-earth," but we figure it was due to the amount of high-profile games being released so close together. Shadow of Mordor's major competition is now Forza Horizon 2, also being released the same day.

We can't blame Warner Bros. for moving up the release date. October continues to remain an overcrowded month, despite three major games leaving the pack.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will leap onto Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.

Hmm...looks like EA's juggling their release dates like a circus act. You never know what they're gonna do next.
