Microsoft Announces Kinect for Windows v2 Pricing

Release date also confirmed...

Microsoft has announced the release date and price for the PC version of Xbox One's Kinect sensor.

The device is currently available for pre-order via Microsoft's online store for £159 / $199 and will launch on July 15th, which is next week.

The description Microsoft gives is as follows:

The Kinect for Windows v2 sensor gives developers more of the precision, responsiveness, and intuitive capabilities they need to develop interactive voice- and gesture-based applications for the Windows desktop and Windows Store. The v2 sensor is intended for use with the Kinect for Windows software development kit (SDK) 2.0. Learn more at the Kinect for Windows Dev Center

Does the £160 price inform us of the retail price of the standalone Xbox One version of the sensor? Probably not, since the original Kinect for Windows was a whopping £199, compared to the £129.99 for the Xbox 360 edition - mainly due to the price of bundled software licenses, we're told - so there's likely to be a difference this time around too.

Sounds about right for a price point. I can't wait to see all the neat thing that techies come up with with this windows version.

I'm not paying that. I bought the Kinect-less X1 and now regret not buying the full version with Kinect, and up until this point had planned to buy a Kinect separately when they release. But that's too much. Especially in pounds- I'm in NA so that would be REALLY expensive in US dollars. I was thinking it'd be $100 or a little over, seeing as that's how much they discounted the console for dropping it.

I'll pay around $100-130, but anything more than that and I'll just do without, or wait until a price drop or sale or something.
