Finally ready to be seen...by a few
Those who are attending QuakeCon this year are in for a real treated, with an exclusive first-look at DOOM, also known as Doom 4.
The announcement came from Bethesda Softworks via their official blog, as they published a schedule of special events for QuakeCon 2014. In the events list there is a slot marked "Annual QuakeCon Welcome & Attendee Exclusive DOOM Reveal", which will take place on the first night of QuakeCon, July 17 at 6pm.
Bethesda went on to say that the reveal will be exclusive to QuakeCon and will not shown at any other video game events. It's unfortunate that non-attendees wont get to see the reveal, unless it's leaked online, but at least it shows that id Software is actually making progress with the title and that it's finally ready to be seen.
Doom 4 has been in development hell since it was first announced back in 2008. Since then, Bethesda Softworks acquired id Software, development was restarted from scratch and John Carmack, id Software co-founder, left to work on Oculus VR.
We just hope it doesn't fall into the same long development trap as Duke Nukem Forever.
