Bungie Releases Destiny Companion App on iOS, Android

New smartphone app makes customization and management easier

Just in time for the beta launch of Destiny, Bungie has released a free companion app for iPhone and Android users. The beta kicks off tomorrow on PS3 and PS4, while Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners will need to wait until July 23rd.

The Destiny Companion app will show a 3D render of your character and stats. Players will be able to customize armour and weapons right within the app and the game will reflect those changes instantaneously. The app makes inventory management and searching through your loot much easier too. You can also read extensive lore about Destiny's characters and worlds while on the go, so you can always have Destiny on your mind at work.

According to the iTunes description, players will get to "keep in touch with your friends in the Bungie Community via forums, groups, or private messaging and track them down on the PlayStation Network or XBOX Live."

Sounds like one handy little app if we're to say so ourselves. It also looks like Windows Phone users are sadly left out, at least for the time being.

There's still time to participate in the Xbox beta as long as you pre-order the game through the proper retailers. Make sure to check out for all the details.

I got my pre-order in today. Afraid to admit here that I went with the white PS4 Destiny console bundle. This game looks incredible and the idea that the Xbox versions were all getting less content (on top of the constant 1080p issue with all games) pushed me over the edge.
