What's Out This Week: June 3rd (North America)

Posted by Anthony Bacchus

What do ghosts, street fighters, and worms all have in common?

So you're browsing your local retailer's Xbox One and Xbox 360 section and have no idea what new games were released this week. No one seems willing to help and you feel alone and scared. Surely, there must be a way — an easy way — to get the info on the latest releases. Rest your worried head young Spartan, because at pX we got you covered on what's hitting retail stores and the Games Store.

Murdered: Soul Suspect (Xbox One / Xbox 360)

Death is only the beginning when it comes to Murdered: Soul Suspect, an action-adventure crime thriller with a supernatural twist. You play as Ronan O' Connor, who is unexpectedly killed on the job. Ronan is given a second chance as a ghost, to find clues about his death and who the culprit is. However, an even greater mystery surrounds the town of Salem, and it's up to Ronan to uncover the truth.

Developed by Airtight Games who brought us Quantum Conundrum and Dark Void, Murdered: Soul Suspect has piqued our interest. We can safely say we haven't seen a game quite like it before. We'll try and have a review for you loyal readers as soon as we can.

Ultra Street Fighter IV (Xbox 360)

Speaking of things not dying, the fourth update to Capcom's 2.5D brawler can be downloaded this week and it can be yours at a discount if you already own SF4 or SF4: Arcade Edition. A physical boxed copy for Xbox 360 will be hitting stores in August for $40 and won't require you to own any previous edition of the game.

The latest update throws in five new characters to already meaty roster, six new stages, new game modes and rebalanced gameplay.

Worms Battlegrounds (Xbox One)

The popular slithery and violent worms are making their next-gen debut this week with Worms Battlegrounds. In addition to an extensive single-player campaign and time attack modes, the explosive multiplayer modes can be played both locally and online with up to four players. The game even allows players to make a clan before suiting up and charging the online battlefield.

The Wolf Among Us - Episode 4: In Sheep's Clothing (XBLA)

Another Telltale episode that sort of snuck up on us after our weekly article went up. If you haven't figured it out yet, the fourth episode to The Wolf Among Us is now available for $5 or for free if you've already snagged the season pass. In related news, Telltale confirmed the entire five episode series will be released as a standalone package for Xbox One and Xbox 360 sometime this year.

We're still hacking our way through Watch_Dogs and probably will be for some time, but we're definitely going to make some time blowing our friends up in Worms Battlegrounds. After that, we're hoping Murdered: Soul Suspect will satisfy our craving for a good suspense mystery. What will you be picking up this week? Drop us a line in the comments below.

I want to play Murdered, but with Mario Kart 8 and Watch Dogs providing me with plenty of entertainment, I don't think it'll happen too soon. Plus, I've got reviewin' to be doin'!

@DRL I'm trying to hold off on getting Watch Dogs but the temptation to pick it up is growing more every day. I'm still annoyed at all the preference that was given to PS4 versions of the game so part of me wants to wait for a price drop just out of spite. LOL
