Trials Fusion Receives Day-One Patch

Posted by Anthony Bacchus

Increases resolution to 900p

It shouldn't be too much of a surprise but Ubisoft's addictive stunt racer, Trials Fusion, has us itching to get back on the dirt road. If you've been anxiously waiting like us for April 16th to arrive, you should know that a day-one patch will inevitably welcome you upon the initial startup.

Ubisoft was kind enough to let people know that the Xbox One version will launch at a resolution of 800p but will increase to 900p AFTER installing the patch, which still falls short of the PS4 and PC versions that run at 1080p. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 version will run in "native 600p, like all leading games on the platform." Ubisoft was also quick to mention that all versions of the game will run at a smooth 60 frames-per-second.

We aren't one to start any resolution wars here, but it is hard to ignore the high number of next-gen games being released at a lower resolution on the Xbox One versus the PlayStation 4. While we firmly believe that most people will hardly be able to tell the difference, it's clear that developers are simply having a harder time to develop their games on Microsoft's machine than Sony's.

Either way, our enjoyment of Trials Fusion will ultimately come down to how much fun it is rather than its graphic fidelity. But hey, if you have something to say regarding 1080p, 720p, 900p, or whatever "p" that comes to mind, go ahead and share them in the comments below.

I can't wait for this game. Love the Trials games especially Evolution on 360. I am greatly disappointed to see another game released multiplatform where the Xbox One cannot deliver the resolution that the PS4 can. I know that I probably couldn't tell a difference but it certainly feels like this generation of hardware was fumbled by Microsoft. Considering how integrated that company is with the PC market it really boggles my mind that they decided to develop hardware that is overly complicated to develop for instead of going straight at the core PC architecture. Regardless of all that, I do love my Xbox One.. I just worry that long term it may not hold up as well as the PS4 will nor will it hold up as well as the 360 did during it's lifecycle.

I've got to say it's extremely disappointing to me to see yet another game falling short of full HD on the console I love. Especially with a game like this one, that isn't considered exactly graphically demanding... I truly hope that all of this is just a result of the developers needing time with the console to learn how to better develop for it as it's more complicated than the ps4. I'm really hoping to see watch dogs resolution on par with the ps4 version..
