Xbox 360 Version of GTA V Tops Weekly US Sales Chart

Guess you could call this The Big One

As if we didn't already know that Grand Theft Auto V was a monster release, these weekly US sales numbers courtesy of VGC show just how majorly it dominated the competition.

Sitting in first place is the Xbox 360 version of GTA V, which moved 5,939,351 units, followed by the 3,675,906 units logged by the PS3 version. Then there's a major drop to third place with Madden 25 selling 47,746 units for the Xbox 360.

Below is a list of the Top 20 best-selling video games in the United States for the week of September 15-21. Remember, these numbers reflect units sold, not a dollar amount.

It was undoubtedly a landmark week for GTA V, and it'll be interesting to see how it sells throughout the extremely crowded holiday season. Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort sell more than 20,000 units in a week still? No wonder Nintendo is making HD versions available for download on the Wii U.

@Coldheat - I'm guessing half of that number is from copies bundled with the Wii, considering the Wii sold 9,052 units in NA last week. Regardless, I'm always surprised to see Sports and Resort hanging out in the top 20.
