Two major soccer titles hit the stores this week
So you're browsing your local retailer's Xbox 360 section and have no idea what new games were released this week. No one seems willing to help and you feel alone and scared. Surely, there must be a way — an easy way — to get the info on the latest releases. Rest your worried head young Spartan, because at pX we got you covered on what's hitting retail stores and the Xbox Marketplace.
It isn't easy prying your eyes away from Rockstar's excellent GTA V from last week; and we bet you'll be playing it for a really long time, but that doesn't mean you should ignore this week's releases. With two great choices, the competitive sport of soccer returns to your living room.
Xbox 360 Retail
Armored Core: Verdict Day (Namco Bandai Games / $49.99) - A series that hasn't made quite the same impact on current consoles as it used to on the PS2, the mech franchise returns today in this online focused action game. Players can customize their very own destructive mech before joining factions and teams, obliterating their foes. Reception is pretty mixed on this title with reviewers lamenting it's lack of a single player campaign.Available September 24th.
FIFA 14 (EA Sports / $59.99) - FIFA has always been one of the best balanced sports series ever and this year's entry looks to be refining the series before it makes the jump to next-gen. While we may have to wait until November to play the definitive version, the Xbox 360 version still manages to be an excellent, polished game. Available September 24th.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 (Konami / $59.99) - PES is also back with it's 2014 edition from Konami and with the slick new Fox Engine powering the game, expect more realistic animations and physics. In fact, this year's game wants you to experience the most realistic football game on a home console. The revamped Player ID system is key to that goal in making sure team's play as authentically as possible to their real world counterparts. Available September 24th.

Ascend: Hand of Kul (Microsoft Studios / Free-to-Play) - This free-to-play action RPG blends single player and multiplayer quite seamlessly. During your adventure, you can see other players enjoying their own single player adventure too. There's a ton of customization for your player on his/her goal to destroying various titans. Sounds good to us! Available September 25th.
Girl Fight (Majesco Entertainment / $14.99) - It may look like a Dead or Alive knockoff with its all-female cast dressed in scantily clad costumes but there's one major twist to this hand-to-hand brawler: Psychic powers! Yeah, we knew that would catch your attention.Available September 25th.
Pac-Man Championship Edition DX + (Namco Bandai Games / $9.99) - In 2010, Pac-Man Championship Edition blew us away with its frantic, fast-paced and addictive gameplay. It was a thoughtful remake of Pac-Man and a true "blast to the past." With this updated version, players can enjoy four new courses, two songs and a bunch of new skin packs. If you've yet to play this classic the first time, now would be the time. Available September 25th.
We're pretty tempted to play us some soccer and with this week's two giant releases, it just might be enough to get us to stop playing GTA V. Maybe. That may not be the case for most of you, however. Will you be picking up FIFA 14 this week or are you waiting for the Xbox One version?
