A grand week, indeed

So you're browsing your local retailer's Xbox 360 section and have no idea what new games were released this week. No one seems willing to help and you feel alone and scared. Surely, there must be a way — an easy way — to get the info on the latest releases. Rest your worried head young Spartan, because at pX we got you covered on what's hitting retail stores and the Xbox Marketplace.

It feels surreal but Rockstar's magnum opus, Grand Theft Auto 5 is finally available today on current generation consoles. Only three releases this week but that doesn't at all matter when your initials are GTA.

Xbox 360 Retail

Grand Theft Auto 5 (Rockstar Games / $59.99) - It's been five years since the GTA franchise blew everyone away with Grand Theft Auto 4 and now the amazingly talented Rockstar development team is releasing their next blockbuster in the mega popular franchise. If you've been living under a rock, GTA V puts you in control of three different protagonists this time around that can be switched on the fly as you participate in a world of criminality. Reviews went up yesterday morning and critics are practically unanimous in calling it Rockstar's best game they've ever made. Okay, so why are you still reading this? Go get it already! Available September 17th.

Hot Wheels: World's Best Driver (Warner Bros. / $39.99) - Undoubtedly doomed for failure by launching a game on the same day as GTA, here comes a new racer from the same team behind Fast and Furious: Showdown. We all know how that turned out. This budget release has four driving styles: speed, stunts, precision and jumps. There are no reviews as of yet for this title, which probably isn't a good thing. Available September 17th.

Xbox 360 Games Store

Foul Play (Mastertronic / $14.99) - A beat-em-up with a unique presentational flair, Foul Play puts you in the shoes of demon hunter Baron Dashforth as he recounts his adventure through a theatre stage in front of an audience. Top notch presentation aside, the gameplay seems to be a bit of a mixed bag. You can read our review for Foul Play right here. Available September 18th.

It's safe to say that most people will be diving into the amazing world of Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto 5 and will be consuming us until the Xbox One arrives. Although, Foul Play also triggers our fancy when we're in the mood for some beat-em-up action. How excited are you for GTA V? Did you pick up your copy already?
