A slow week but heavy on nostalgia
So you're browsing your local retailer's Xbox 360 section and have no idea what new games were released this week. No one seems willing to help and you feel alone and scared. Surely, there must be a way — an easy way — to get the info on the latest releases. Rest your worried head young Spartan, because at pX we got you covered on what's hitting retail stores and the Xbox Marketplace.
Your wallet can take a bit of a breather this week, as there are only two games to chew on this time around. The Games Store finally gets a downloadable title Xbox fans have been patiently waiting for. Woo-ooo.
Xbox 360 Retail
NHL 14 (EA Sports / $59.99) - Where the H-E-(double hockey stick) did the time go? You can shelf NHL 13 now; that game is old news now. NHL 14 is carving its way to becoming the best hockey game on the market, according to recent reviews. Look forward to a revamped fighting and collision engine, meaning a more brutal game of hockey throughout every match. Just like Madden NFL 25, NHL 14 is celebrating its 20th anniversary with NHL '94 Anniversary Mode. That's right, a remake of the classic sports game is playable in the game with enhanced, modern visuals but the controls have remained fully intact. Give the mode a shot if you're feeling a little nostalgic. Available September 10th

DuckTales: Remastered (Capcom / $14.99) - It isn't often the Xbox 360 is last to have a game released on the platform but that shouldn't refrain you from playing this classic platformer. We very much enjoyed WayForward's well-intentioned remake, so make sure you read the review before plopping down the dough. Even if you haven't played the original game, this remake is definitely worth a look. In fact, we said it's "a reunion of duck-like proportions that should have fans of the NES original, and newcomers, smiling from ear-to-ear as they revisit it for years to come." Convinced yet? Available September 11th
Not much is happening this week but both titles here are nothing to scoff at. Including a remodelled NHL '94 in NHL 14 is an awesome addition and is something that Madden NFL 25 should have included as well. We're hoping future sports title have something similar when they too are prepped to celebrate their anniversaries. Both releases this week are harkening back to earlier times, which sounds good to us.
This almost feels like the calm before the storm, doesn't it? Could a major AAA release be right around the corner and is that the reason for a less crowded week of releases on the 360?
