A sea of action shenanigans and football, plus CoD DLC
So you're browsing your local retailer's Xbox 360 section and have no idea what new games were released this week. No one seems willing to help and you feel alone and scared. Surely, there must be a way — an easy way — to get the info on the latest releases. Rest your worry head, young Spartan because at pX we got you covered on whats hitting retail stores and the Xbox Marketplace.
It may seem like the end of the summer but the games keep pumping out. It's all about action and sports this week and we got all the details for you down below.
Xbox 360 Retail
Killer is Dead (Xseed Games / $59.99) — If you've played any Suda51 game before, then you might have an inkling on what you're getting into here. Stylized cell-shaded visuals compliment the brutal, intense violence we've come to expect from his deranged mind. A somewhat under the radar release, Killer is Dead definitely scratches our interest. Available August 27th.
Lost Planet 3 (Capcom / $59.99) — It's time to bring back the ice once again in this polarized franchise. Under new development from Spark Unlimited, this new entry will allow players to jump in a utility rig vehicle outside of the usual on-foot escapades. Reviews are a bit lukewarm on this one, but we'll hold off on judging it too harshly until we get our frosty hands on it. Available August 27th.
Madden NFL 25 (Electronic Arts / $59.99) — Surprise! Football is back, right on schedule. But wait a second, Madden 25? No, you haven't suddenly entered a time warp and landed in the year 2025. EA is celebrating a milestone 25 years of Madden gaming and chose to name this year's entry as Madden NFL 25. We know what you're thinking too. Just what are they going to do when the franchise eventually releases a Madden in 2025? Available August 27th.
Painkiller: Hell & Damnation (Nordic Games Publishing / $29.99) — A remake of the 2004 Xbox shooter, this new edition has been through hell like the main character has, suffering a ton of delays. If you're a hardcore fan of the original, or just looking to shoot some demon scum, then this budget release may be right up your alley. Available August 30th.
Xbox 360 Marketplace
Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Apocalypse (Activision / $14.99) — The fourth (and last) expansion to the biggest release of last year is now available early for Xbox 360 owners, as is tradition. This one is packed with two new and two old MP maps plus a new zombie experience called Origins. Count us excited! Available August 27th.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (Activision / $14.99) — Ninja turtles are back and are closing out a mixed Summer of Arcade this year. This four player co-op adventure looks to bring back the feeling of said SNES classic, Turtles in Time. We're anxious about this one, despite the turtles themselves looking a little odd. Available August 28th.
If we were to take a guess at what most people would be spending most of their gaming on this week, it would have to be the expansion for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. What about the rest of you? Do any of this week's releases have you itching to run to your closest retail store or would you rather sit back at home, download TMNT and order a pizza all to yourself? Sound off below!
