Out Today: Phantom Breaker, BIT.TRIP Runner 2

Posted by Ken Barnes

Just another retro wednesday.

Xbox Live Arcade release day is one of our favourite times of the week, and this week sees the release of two potential crackers.

Available today, we have:-

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds (800 MSP)
With a distinctly 8-bit style, Phantom Breaker looks to be a pretty decent proposition. Eight stages of side-scrolling action that seems to be along the lines of what we saw in the excellent XBLA title Scott Pilgrim vs. The World are on offer, alongside 4-player offline and online co-op, and a Battleground Mode, which allows players to take their developed characters into a Power Stone-esque brawl for it all. This could be a little bit special.

BIT.TRIP Presents...Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (1200 MSP)
If you've played BIT.TRIP Runner then you know what you're in for here. Sort of, anyway. A sharp new look seems to be on offer in Commander Video's world, but the game promises to contain more of that ridiculously addictive gameplay - so that's good enough for us.

Do you plan on picking either of these up today? Or, are you saving your MSPs for more Xbox Live Ultimate Game Sale items?

Phantom Breaker looks pretty cool and I'll be getting Runner 2 but I'm waiting for the Vita version since I think it might work best on that system.

@Gamer83 You might be right, there. I think I might kick back with a bit of Phantom Breaker later on this evening, myself.
