Microsoft Apologises for Cloud Save Issues

Free month for affected users.

If you were affected by last week's outages and errors when trying to access the cloud save system from your Xbox 360, Microsoft knows all about it. They've also rolled out a fix for the problem, where some people were getting flat rejections when trying to save games, and others were getting "error 0x807b0198" thrown in their face.

Alex Garden - General Manager of Xbox Live for Microsoft - says that their systems are aware of which people were having difficulty, and as a goodwill gesture, the company will credit all affected accounts with a free month of Xbox Live Gold. There's no need to call in or log a ticket, as the free month will be credit automatically.

You can't really say fairer than that.

I wasn't even aware of the problem until Microsoft dropped me a message with a month of free Xbox Live Gold. Not complaining.
