Here's the 17 Games Available for US Kinect Users in November

Posted by James Newton

Not all available at launch

How do you define a launch game? Our definition would be something like "a game available to purchase on the same day new hardware is released", but Microsoft's playing fast-and-loose with the definition with the new phrase "launch portfolio". Major Nelson revealed the 17 titles that will launch for Kinect in November, but didn't provide specific dates for each game.

Microsoft will launch four titles alongside Kinect: family-friendly pack-in Kinect Adventures, cutesy pet trainer Kinectimals, sports compilation Kinect Sports and Kinect Joyride, a racing game originally headed to Xbox Live Arcade.

Third-party support comes from THQ, Ubisoft, Sega, Warner Bros., Electronic Arts and more, with almost every major publisher represented in the initial line-up.

The roster is dominated by the sports, fitness and dance genres: four sporting compilations, four exercise titles and a pair of dedicated dance games make up more than half the entire line-up.

I can't say that I'm really all that interested in any of these titles with the exception being Dance Central. However, I am optimistic that there will be plenty of interesting games in the future that will make Kinect a must-have device for any 360 owner.

EA Sports Active 2 might be good, but I have a bad feeling about a lot of the others. I have a bad feeling about the line-up in general :(

None of those leap out at me as being awesome, but I'll wait for the reviews.

Is it just me, or is 90% of this the crap everyone's already played on Wii?

Dance games are really the only genre up here that are probably significantly improved without a controller. Sony's near launch lineup (including patches) was much more interesting.
