Going to reserve final judgement for when it actually releases (becaue the current build is a bit of a glitchy mess), but I'm not really in love with it. A small step up from the last UI, though. #BringBackBlades.

I was too scared to opt in to the new test program after reading the list of issues and games you either can't launch or have issues. Is it really that bad or is it worth opting in now?

I'm a big fan of windows 10 and the xbox integration in that and this dash looks like a natural extension of that?

I mean, I'm having like slightly more issues than I normally do with a preview build, but the UI has consistently been buggy for me since I've been a part of it. So it feels pretty par for the course. I'm not really blown away by anything, so I'd wait.

I like some of it. For some obscure reason, you can no longer hide games that are 'ready to install' so zoo tycoon is back on my dash.

Hmm. Not sure. It looks like the Windows 10 Xbox app, but is a bit clunky to navigate with the controller. It just seems 'too big' for the screen. I've spotted some odd characters in sub menus and most of my pins don't open the app, they just offer me the chance to rate the app. I accept it is a beta, so I'm not complaining about these things...yet. As yet I've not had any issues playing a game.

Thanks... if you're not having any major problems then I'll probably give it a go. Not that bothered about my pins... I launch most stuff by voice command anyway... so long as I can play my games and watch Netflix/Prime I'll be happy

I re-read the list of issues and it seems that it renders most of the buttons on the media remote dead (we use that a lot) and also causes some pretty serious issues with the USB TV tuner (also use that a lot) so I'm going to have to wait this one out until it's a bit more polished. What makes it worse is that it says is you want to bail out of the program and reverts to the old dash your xbox gets wiped and I'd have to re-download and install all my games n stuff. Not happening

Random power offs.
Random kick to dash during a game.
Random menus coming up and almost impossible to get out of.
No hide for deinstalled games/demos - show as ready to install again.
Weird characters.
Still - I quite like it 😍😍😰😰🙀🙀

@Ryno, luckily I've got two Xbox ones and the preview is only installed on one of them. They have mostly gone forwards but in some areas, a minor backwards step instead. The ONLY things I want are Backwards compat and the ability to play FLAC files (as Windows 10 can).

@tylertreese.
I have one in that I game on most of the time and is also used for catchup TVs/Amazon/blinkbox etc. The other is used when I'm ill (which is frequently unfortunately) or when my wife is watching something I can't stomach (Downton Abbey springs immediately to mind)

Did you see the recent Gadget Show on FLAC vs MP3? The majority of people couldn't tell the difference even with £10k-worth of audio equipment

Come down to my house and I'll show you the difference on a set of monitors. Trouble is with most people, they don't actually listen to music, that's why they're happy with an iPod/MP3 player and a set of earbuds. The record industry is making a fortune out of young people these days.

We live in an age where recordings can be made in amazing quality and are then down sampled to be sold as CD's then down sampled lower to be sold on ITunes then down sampled again to be streamed. If you've never heard the real thing, how the hell are you supposed to be able to tell the difference? It's like wine, you have to learn to appreciate the better stuff. I use a set of Rokits (sub and 2 closefields) fed by a Dac from a PC to listen to music. Doesn't cost a fortune, just sounds like it. I used to run a small studio back in the day and have watched with dismay what's happened to an industry I used to love.

Read Neil Young on the subject. "Waging Heavy Peace'" is a great book to get a handle on it.

I never saw the gadget show but it makes a difference what quality FLAC they wrote and what the source material was. FLAC is capable of 192k/32 bit. Most (if not all) CD's are 44k/16 bit. SACD is 96k/24bit Max. You have to buy special recordings to get the best out of FLAC. Therefore, if they just encoded a CD, you wouldn't really notice a lot of difference (crap in, crap out). My ears are 62 years old and have been seriously abused. If I can tell the difference in a blind test and I can, anyone can. They just have to listen.

@Captain_Chaos, I wasn't having a pop (lol) at you but at the Industry. Most people don't know what they're listening to (and most couldn't give a toss). They've swapped quality for convenience but that applies to everything today. Stack em high and sell em cheap.

How many people even own a hi fi today (let alone a turntable)? Most listen to music on the bus or tube and they're not really listening to it, it's a method of isolation from the world around. Have the music around today doesn't even have lyrics, just a single line repeated over and over. It's like a computer game without a storyline 😉😉😉😉 half assed and banged out cheap.
