I'm not disagreeing with that at all... and I'm not even a technician. Don't have to be a technician to tell that putting a console in a very tight space isn't the best of ideas.

I'm curious to know how much space he has now for the 360 to be able to roughly tell how much an Xbox One would physically steal from it. Like I said, when setting up my console tower (with PS3, PS4, 360 and XO) I can't remember the height differencing that much betweent the 360 and XO.

on a quick look, mine are side by side, the xb1 is about 1.5 cm 3/4" taller than an xbox. Weirdly, on the MS website, they do not recommend installing Xbox one in a bookcase or tv cabinet (unless well ventilated) whilst their installation picture shows it installed in one. It's also shown above the TV and although modern sets are better, they still give off a significant amount of heat that's going upward 😱😱😱😱😱😱

Good news is when left enough room to circulate the air properly the Xbox One actually stays really cool. Unlike my 360 which Red Ringed on me more than once despite being left plenty of room to ventilate. So give the One some room to breath and you are good to go. I currently have my Wii U sitting on top on the non vent side and it doesn't seem to make any difference on how well the One cools, don't know if that is okay or not though. Should probably not set anything on top.

Agreed, it's probably not the best idea to put things on top of it, but I've got my external drive sat on top on the non-vent side all the same.
