Topic: Deciding on xbox one purchase and need some help

I am contemplating getting a xbox one, however, I was wondering if I bought one now how big would the combined patch/update download be for Titanfall and for Destiny at this point? I am in grad school and only have a 5mbps internet connection. I know it would take about 10hrs or so under ideal conditions to download the Halo Master Chief collection 20+gb patch/update which already has me balking but if all the xbox one games I am interested in require huge patches/updates I will just stick with my Xbox 360. Thank you for your time.

Hi

On my 'box, installed size of Titanfall (with all DLC) is 21.5 Gb, and Destiny is 20Gb. Its becoming more common sadly for day one patches, but its by no means the norm.

Hope that helps mate.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I perhaps needed to be more clear with my inquiry. I will purchase the xbo discs for the game I understand that they have to be installed I was wanting to know specifically just how big the patches/ updates would be for these 2 games. I was just curious about the download size of patches/updates for titanfall and destiny.

The install I think you are pointing to is either download size for the game + dlc + patches/updates or either the install size of the game disc + dlc + patches/updates.

Thanks again.

There has been numerous patches since these games were released - not just 1. I would imagine that Titanfalls patch would be quite large by comparison to Destiny's due to the extra content these have added - like the customisation and horde style mode but I have no idea on the exact size and don't know if it is possible to check on console. Its unlikely to be in the same ballpark area of a game though maybe a GB or 2 at most. (for Titanfall and less for Destiny)
However you can leave an XB1 in 'standby' and it will download updates whilst you are asleep or school.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

Yes that is what I needed to know 1 or 2 GB is not bad at all. I may just have to bite the bullet with the MCC 20 GB patch. I just wanted to make sure the other games I wanted did not require as much space and time. Thanks this will help with my decision.

Hey mate. Don't forget the initial XB1 install will download a patch too. You cannot do anything until it does.

Does the controller have an update? Oh wait, it does. At least it allows for fixing things. Have they fixed the light bar on the PS4 yet?

What is there to fix about the light bar? It works as intended.

Really don't get why you're trying to start trashing on another system in this topic for no reason. This is really not needed.

The light bar...? Didn't even realise that was/is a thing? I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with my PS4.

Can't say I've noticed any issues with the light bar on either of my PS4 controllers, if I'm honest...

Not had any issues with my PS4 controller or light bar - however I don't have the camera so don't know if that's an issue. I haven't read anywhere that it can be either.

Does anybody have the exact height measurement of the xbox one? I have a slim space in my entertainment center and need to know whether it will fit or not. Please let me know is US units if you can. Thanks.

I believe they were referring to the update that allows one to turn off the light bar on their PS4 controller. I seem to remember reading about that in the past. Many found it to very distracting while gaming.

The Xbox One console measurements (LxWxH) are: 13.1; x 10.8 x 3.1; (33.3cm x 27.4cm x 7.9cm.
according to gamebolt
I got that from the Internet thingamybob by doing something called a 'search'. 😀😀

If your space is that limited, you don't want to put a console that needs to dissipate heat into it 😱😱😱😱😱😱.

Yeah I did that same search and got the same dimensions the other day but watching YouTube comparisons between the Xbox one and 360 e console the xbox one appears significantly taller in the videos. I came seeking help from this community not to be ridiculed. Instead of relying on an internet search I was relying on a helpful community member with a tape measure. I will take one with me to GameStop 30 miles away and ask them if I can measure one of their used ones. Maybe one day I will find a friendly community.

I don't think Sorethumbed was ridiculing you mate, he was employing a well known British device known as "humour". And you'd have to go a long way before you find a friendlier community than here.. The information he gave was absolutely correct (and I've been sat here with a tape measure at 06:15 to check). I don't know if you've had many dealings with the "communitys" on the interwebs, but this place is like Fluffy Cloud land by comparison. Maybe, and this is not a criticism, you could be a little less sensitive and take things in the manner they were meant? I know its hard in a text based medium to pick up on humour, but as you get to (hopefully) know the people round here, you'll get to know their individual voices and way of expressing things. Sorethumbed is not a bad guy, in fact quite the opposite.

Tl;DR : Stick around, Sorethumbed wasn't taking the mickey.

No one was ridiculing you and I'm sorry if I upset you. The point still stands though, if your space is that tight, don't put an Xbone in it, it won't last 5 minutes if it can't dissipate its heat. Ps... The dimensions are spot on.

Don't say that. I'm sure no one was trying to make fun of you. We are friendly! Promise! Well, most of us at least.

When it comes to the boxes overheating, I've yet to hear about an Xbox One doing just that. The 360 had some hard times and was really sensitive, but the Xbox One seems 'sturdier'. Am I completely wrong in that assumption?

Anyway, most of the XO heat dissipation is done through the top. So some space on top as well as on on the right hand side side and back as well. As long as you don't box it up completely....

I'll see if I can take a comparison pic for you later today, if that'll help. Got both the 360 and the one sitting pretty. Maybe the One looks taller because of the design, but if I recall correctly from when I was setting up all our consoles the only noticeable difference is width.

The way he is talking, it's the height that is in question. As a technician, I would not recommend installing something that dissipates its heat through the top in a height restricted area, it's just asking for trouble.
