@crippyd, not sure. They haven't exactly spelt out the SM requirements for joining.

@crippyd: Allright, so I murderized the first giant boss dude, and it only took me 8 hours to do it! So proud of myself.
So where do I go now? The key he drops only opens doors that lead to nowhere, I'm not even sure what killing him even accomplished.
And do you know what the giants soul does? It gives a cryptic warning message when you use it and I'm scared

You have the soldier key? You killed the Pursuer or the Last Giant? The boss souls can be traded for their weapons with a guy you find much later in the game. TBH I have only traded a couple of souls as I didn't find the weapons compared to the one I had. Otherwise you can use them to gain souls (about 5000 each) to help you level up. What type of character do you have?

@A_BabyRed_Yoshi Forgot to answer your main question. Once you have beaten the Pursuer and the Last Giant you should head to the Heide Tower of Flame (from Majula fire, in the open door and just follow the path and you will find the first fire on your right by a large knight. He will ignore you so you can light the fire and then you must kill him and the other massive knights. Leave the sleeping knights alone)

@crippyd: Wow, I don't even remember what character I have lol. It's the default one, I use a sword and shield. I just found the Pursuer guy, he keeps ravaging me. I actually went to the tower of flame place first, it's laid out like you're naturally supposed to go there. I gave up on the second mace knight enemy and wandered till I found the forest place.
There is also a statue thing blocking access to one of the areas in the tutorial area, is that important?

If you are a knight/melee character put your souls into strength, stamina, dexterity, carrying capacity and then into faith and intelligence. You need to be able to hit hard and recover fast, so upgrade strength and stamina first. To get past the statue you need a fragrant branch which the old woman by the fire in the forest has. Make sure when you talk to the people that you talk to them until they start repeating themselves, they will then appear in Majula so you can get stuff off them. You also need the blacksmith key off the same old woman so you can upgrade you weapons. The NPCs will give you stuff too if you talk to them. Do you know what your soul memory is? It will be quite a large number and it is shown in your stats page or on Smartglass when you look at the game.

Don't go through the door with the statue until you are leveled up quite a bit as the area is quite difficult. That area is about 3/4 of the way through the game.

For the Pursuer, go down the ladder from the second fire in the woods, kill the sleeping guy near the bottom of the ladder, through the door, kill the two pike guys, turn right and straight on, unlock the door with the soldier key, go up the stairs killing the 3 guys as you go and at the top you can summon a NPC to help kill him quickly. The NPC distracts the Pursuer and you can get on the balista (the big crossbow things) and two hits with that and he is down.

@crippyd: I have 49,900 soul memory. How do you summon NPC's? Do you have to be human or hollow to summon things?

@A_BabyRed_Yoshi You need to be human to summon anyone. Go to your inventory, select the effigy and select use to make you human.

@crippyd: how does the inventory system work? I have all this crap stuff I don't want, but I can't figure out how to sell or trash it..
And do weapons get more powerful overtime? Like does a greatsword i found in the forest weaker than than one i would find in the tower of flame?

@A_BabyRed_Yoshi you don't need to worry about the inventory filling up as there is no limit and later on there is a guy you can sell all your crap to. I'm not sure if the weapons you find get stronger but the best way is to see the blacksmith in Majula for him to level up your weapons. You can just dump stuff by selecting the item and picking leave and you just leave it on the floor.

To summon NPCs/other players you have to look for some glowing writing on the floor and stand on it to get the prompt to summon the character. Other players tend to leave their signs at the fires and at the doors to boss fights.

@A_BabyRed_Yoshi: The weight limit has to do with the weight of the items you've actually got equipped. Your armor and weapons factor into this number, so you need to be careful not to equip anything too heavy or else you'll move around like a turtle.

(I hope I correctly interpreted your question.)

@A_BabyRed_Yoshi: Super excited for Dark Souls III, especially after reading/watching all the previews that went live today.

Because you're new to the series, I HIGHLY recommend using this site to help you along until you're comfortable. There's a "NEW PLAYER HELP" page located under "GUIDES & WALKTHROUGHS" that covers the basics. Check it out.

@A_BabyRed_Yoshi @DRL @Utena-mobile I'm excited for 3 as the trailers look really cool.

No worries on the help, if I have the info I'll share as much as I can. I've completed both games and to be honest, still don't understand some of the systems. As to regards the carrying capacity what Dave said is spot on.

@A_BabyRed_Yoshi: The biggest thing to remember about weight:
The LIGHTER you are, the faster and FURTHER you roll. Too heavy and you roll like a whale on vallium. Helps to get you out of trouble and sometimes into it lol.
