Yet another OXM refugee looking for a fall back position, although I'm loathe to leave OXM as I have over 12,000 posts clocked up and I'm the moderator. Not sure if I can remember how to cope on a forum without heady feeling of absolute power.
In the age stakes I'm 37 so still pushing the top of the envelope, but I work as an accountant so that sort of adds extra to the carbon dating of my soul.
Greetings Cunning! I was tempted to post something cheeky (banter style) but changed my mind last minute in case you rise to mod for this site and remember it.
You don't stop gaming because you get old, you get old because you stop gaming.

Welcome to all the new people. Its nice to see a community growing. I have to ask though what is happening to OXM that so many people are coming over here? Just kind of curious.

All the old staff left, and Future publishing have taken the stance that focusing on the printed magazine is more important than the online component. Without Ed to keep it ticking over, there's not much being published to keep people coming in, and it's grinding to a halt slowly but surely. The new staff aren't overly interested, sadly, and have very little input compared to the previous bunch who were lovely.
Official PS Monthly forums were shut down overnight last month, and apparently CVG is going too; both owned by Future. Outlook for OXM is not good, frankly, and we've become such a tight-knit community over the years that we really needed somewhere else in case the worst does happen.

Ah ok. Sorry to hear that it's always sad to hear when a place that so many people enjoy changes so dramatically overnight. I hope you all enjoy it here as much as you did over there. We are glad to have you here.
Oh and just a little FYI if you are looking for Playstation or Nintendo News your log in information can be used over at
which are Pure Xbox sister sites so free feel to drop in there too. We might be setup as three different websites but we are all one big happy gaming family.

Nice to feel welcome, and actually see some XBOX related news!

I'll echo Red's words. It's great to feel part of a community, as that is what I liked about OXM, and it's good to see news popping frequently. Thanks for the welcomes from you guys

I'm also a 37 year-old accountant, but with a bit of a sideline in IT support. Formerly from London, now relocated to North Yorkshire; husband to my lovely wife of 11 years, and father of a Halo-loving 10 year-old son. Usually found playing predominantly single-player games, but occasionally up for a bit of MP, though co-op would normally be my preference.
Currently working my way through AC Unity, Far Cry 4, Halo: MCC and Sunset Overdrive, as well as the occasional blast through the French/Italian countryside in Forza Horizon 2.
Hi Cham/Matt... I set out to be an accountant too (well more sort of pushed into it by my parents)... got the degree but then decided I liked computers more and threw myself totally into IT Support. Probably not as well paid but I get to do something I love every day which makes up for it
I get the best (worst?) of both worlds. Took a role as accountant in a company with no IT department some years ago, so now I have a dual role
On the positive side, when spreadsheets that don't balance drive me mad, I always have something completely unrelated that I can move on to, so I can come back to the problem later, and fresh eyes often find the problem that tired eyes overlook. On the downside... two jobs into one working week doesn't always work out so well!
Jeez this place is full of accountants! It's like being at work.
I'm currently an IT Project Manager for a large accountancy firm, but the 20 years previous I've done everything from Mainframe operator to IT support with some programming in the middle.
For the whipper-snappers on here - a mainframe was a computer that (literally) filled an entire room and probably had less computing power than your average smartphone does now.
...and while we're throwing ages around - I'm 46 until next year LOL
