What Can I Use to Fix My Xbox 360 Disc?

I found a copy of Modern Warfare 2 (for the 360) in an apartment we just rented but it is too scratched for my 360 to read. I get to play for a few minutes and then it says "disc is unreadable". Is there anything that I can use to fix the scratches. My 360 is brand new and I don't want to put it in danger either.

Your local music or game stop store will probably carry a device that buffs out scratches from CD's and DVD's and game discs… I think one model is called Disk Doctor or something. It's a hand-held device you attach the disc to and manually spin it to rub/polish out the scratches. I've never used it, but have heard good results from people who have.

You can also go to Blockbuster or Hollywood movies etc and see if they'll do it for you with their device (they have it because their discs get scratched all the time). They might charge you 2 or 4 bucks…

Lastly, I know Microsoft allows you to replace scratched discs for like $20 – you ship them the old one and they ship you back a new one. I'm not sure if Activision does it…

An unethical/illegal way to get a new disc is to rent a working one from Blockbuster and return the "bad" disc… it'll cost you a night's rental… again, not keen on this choice, but it's an option.
