How to Fix Your Xbox 360 with the " Red Ring of Death"?
I have a pre owned , old version of the xbox360 . It had been freezing alot latley and it now has the red ring and a message saying there is a problem with the console and to contact support. I emailed gamestop but they have not replied. Any advice I dont have the money for a new one and I wanna play skyrim!!! – A concerned gamergirl
Suggestion:
it depends how many rings you have on the xbox.
if you have 1 or 2 rings, just let it cool off.
if you have 3 rings, you might need to send it into xbox and they can fix it.
4 rings you need a new xbox. its means that the motherboard is completly dead or you have a virus thing.

I bought a new hard drive for mine (when the hard drives were external) and that fixed it, but red ring of death can mean many things.

Ive gone through alot of 360 consoles. I know if they aren't under warranty then it will cost you 120 i think from microsoft to get repaired. Truth is once you start getting red ring its never a perm fix. Its a temp fix that will eventually come right back.
What I suggest is sell the console on craigslist. Someone will buy it and save up for 200.00 and buy the 4gb arcade. Keep the old hard drive if you want. Or buy a flash stick up to 16gb. THis is what I do and i love it. Its pointless to pay someone to fix the console when you'll just end up repaying again later on. The systems are better. Jmo. I sold my system with E74 on craigslist for 75.00 about a month ago. no hard drive,just wires and controller. Good luck to you!
