Suggestion:
it depends on the service error you're getting. if it's just one fourth of the ring, try unplugging everything from your system them hooking it back up. if that doesn't work try removing your hard drive from the side and see if it will play without it, if so you need a new hard drive. if it's a full red ring all the way around, you will have to send it in to microsoft, gamestop really wouldn't help, other than trying to sell you a new system or charging you extra to send it in themselves

If you are still under warranty, go on xbox.com and set up a repair. Microsoft will send you a box, which you ship back with the xbox 360. Within weeks they will return it, either fixed or a brand new one.
Yea, a local gamestop will help you with this, and they should get it fixed.
take it to gamestop and they will send it in to microsoft and then they will call you when they have it fixed
you definately have to send it in to microsoft
