can anyone help
Chances are it needs to be sent in for repair. Its hard for me to help you without more information though. The model of the 360 and time it was produced will also affect which manufacturer makes your drive. More importantly your question was oddly worded. I took it as saying, already installed games play, but any game i put in the drive doesn't. If it were me I would listen first to hear if the disk was spinning and if it was, I'd attempt to play a dvd. After gaining that information contact microsoft technical support. Hope that helps.

Alright, this is going to sound insane. But bear with me here. My Xbox does this as well (the open tray error). So, I was looking online and saw something that said to "hit" it.
Let me explain so that you don't punch a hole in your system.
You very lightly tap the top of the system repeatedly (assuming it isn't sitting straight up) in the middle of the system, closest to the tray. Sometimes it has to be faster, sometimes slower, harder, gentler, etc.
But I swear this works. I was so scared to do this at first. But I've been able to play for over a year just doing this (you have to do this every time)
Also, you have to do this untill it says the name of the game. If it says "Open Tray", you have to try again. Sometimes you have to do it longer than other times.
Good Luck
