Suggestion:
Make sure other disks work in the machine first and that it is not the X BOX that is damaged.
I have had success buffing the scratches out of optical media with Crest Regular Paste (toothpaste). The paste has a very fine abrasive in it that will help you buff the disk. Using your fingers put a few dabs of the paste around the area reading side (not the label side) of the disk. Then using your finger, buff from the center of the disk out to the edge in straight lines. Do not go in circles around the disk. In short order the paste will be come a little tacky, keep rubbing and rotating the disk. After a while rinse the disk with water and dry with a soft towel, again moving from the center to the edge. Be sure to get all the paste off. The disk will seem cleaner. Try it in the X BOX. Be sure there are not water droplets on the disk as you will want to keep these out of the X BOX. If it does not work you can try again. I have had some success with this method but it does not always work. However it is pretty non destructive to the media so you can try another technique if this doesn't work.
